Many of the election volunteers are older citizens and would be particularly vulnerable if they caught COVID-19 so this is an understandable decision on their part. That being said, the fact that this election was forced to go on despite the obvious risk to the safety of both voters and poll workers is a disgrace to the ideal of democracy. Ironic in the country that proclaims itself the bastion of freedom and democratic governance that we should have so much obvious fraud and suppression.
