I also feel it’s acceptable if you’re in the corner of the room by yourself and there are no customers around but that’s just me. I have misophonia so I do it when I’m eating around my family. They chew with their mouths open, smack their lips, and lick their fingers. It’s awful to be around. I have music playing just loud enough that it blocks out all of the eating noises and I can still hear them talking and I can have a conversation. I don’t have to do this when I’m around my friends, they are quiet eaters.
