Pug I’m Staying Home Today I Have Mood Poisoning Shirt
In my teens, we adopted (bought, actually) a purebred Pug I’m Staying Home Today I Have Mood Poisoning Shirt Shih-Tzu as our pet. We would never buy one on purpose, of course, but his owners had enjoyed his two years of the puppy stage and wanted to sell him. We knew any buyer would want him because he's purebred (soft coat, basically aesthetic) but we could give him a good home. That dog cost my parents the same annually as me. Medically, mostly, this dog was work. Vet all the time, seizures, medicine, the lot. We lost him I think at 8 years old. The seizure, this time, just didn't stop. The vet had to end it, and I'm grateful for that but still so sad that's how he went. I honestly love Shih-Tzus, I had a few friends that had some growing up and they’re like little teddy bears and generally really sweet dogs. But I always felt so awful for them. My roommate’s lived to 11 but could not breathe from his nose at all on top of other massive breathing issues, was riddled with tumors, and only had one tooth left that was barely hanging on. His jaw was so damn malformed he could only eat wet, puréed food since he was about 3 years old which is when he started losing a lot of his teeth. I’ve never met someone with that breed of dog that didn’t pay a $1000s in vet bills over the years just to keep their dog alive. Rescuing a Shih-Tzu and having the funds to care for it is commendable, it already exists and IMO you’re not contributing to their continuation as a breed as long as it’s fixed. People who purposely breed those kinds of dogs are deplorable, you’re setting those poor pups up for a short life of misery.
