I also see Biden and Harris as the defenders of democracy we have even if not the ones we'd most like. This election is literally a referendum of whether to continue as a Republic or to end this grand experiment. I am an American before I am a progressive, we must unite and vote, not for a person or personality but for our Republic, for a government that is accountable and limited. When one of our parties has turned treasonous not only to our national interests but to our inalienable rights opposing them is no longer about individual policies or programs. This election is simply YEA or NAY on our constitution and all it represents. I'll be voting FOR America and checking the box for Biden/Harris on the ballot. How did you ultimately make your decision between a literal fascist who's actions will result in hundreds of thousands of deaths and someone who is slightly less progressive than you hoped for? It's such a tough call. Reminds me of a tweet I saw in 2016 after the primary, something along the lines of “Sanders lost the primary so I am voting for Trump. Also, the grocery store ran out of my favorite beer, so I am going to drink bleach.” It's actual progress towards the left's goals. $15 minimum wage felt like a pipe dream a few years ago, now it's on the centrist candidate's platform. Continuing to push healthcare reform, even if not as far as we like, is still a step closer to where we want to be. Criminal justice reform, immigration reform, pretty much every aspect of foreign policy. all pushing closer to our goals. Any actual action on Climate Change would get my vote alone, that's a huge issue for me. We need to stop saying November 3rd. October 20th is the day you need to send in your mail-in vote to ensure it gets to its destination and gets counted, as per the USPS recommendation. I dedicate the next three months of my life into bothering my fellow Texans into registering, picking up ballots from old people to mail from a better part of town, whatever. Strangers though. If I talk to a FB friend from here or any being precious about Bernie and maybe they'll vote Biden but probably not... flames, flames coming out of the side of my head.... ahem, not productive.
