I still get "teen angst" like Newfoundland It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Shirt comments from my mom when I confront her about her unsustainable spending habits, love of falling for the scammy salesman, and hatred of proper insurance and maintenance of her property. I'm in my 30s but she has been dismissing and invalidating legit feelings and concerns my whole life. I always found it kind of annoying when I was a teen and pissed off and people would just be like “aye look at all this teenage angst hehe”. I was usually genuinely mad about something, and yeah it was probably because of my teenage hormones and stuff, but they were still trivializing me and making fun of me and dismissing my feelings as simply “teen angst” which was only bound to make me even angrier. It even still pisses me off a little head other people talk that way to teens even now.

The poor kiddo struggled big-time with mental health and behaviors and his self-esteem. I lost a lot of sleep about this child and his well-being long before COVID.
