Right now my "one system in a Unicorn Ik Kom Er Wel Overheen Maar Ik Moet Eerst Even Dramatisch Doen Shirt dual system case" features an R7-1700, which I thought would be fine enough for gaming and as 8 core 65W would be perfect to eventually retire to a life of "only Plex and torrents." Unfortunately, it turns out that Ryzen has ridiculously high idle power, so my PC has been eating into my electricity bill like crazy even though it's idle 90% of the time. I'll have to see how Ryzen 4000 fares in idle power, otherwise when it comes time to switch to the dual system I'll have to replace the old girl in addition to getting a second mini-ITX set up. I've honestly been considering old $200-ish Intel ITX boards on eBay to handle the Plex, but most of them don't have enough SATA ports (I need 6 and growing), and I don't know if they'd be powerful enough to re-encode video on the fly. Especially if say I was hosting two or three 1080p streams at once from multiple users. My entire family have this rule from my grandparents of not giving gifts after you turn 18 cause you're "an adult". My gift was to start paying rent instead. I mean I get occasional chocolates or booze from my mother. But nothing from other parts of the family. Unfortunately, today’s media encourages younger people to wait before starting a family. I had an oopsie at the “young” age of 22. It’s stressful as hell at times, but he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s not too late to have or adopt a child. I would recommend it to everyone. Don’t wait, having an older kid while you’re hitting your 50’s to share life with is going to be awesome (that’s when life really starts). I'm in my mid/late 30s with one kid just about 4 and a second on the way... the thought that I've been with my wife long enough that we could have had a kid in university by now is kind of haunting. It absolutely would not have been the right move for us, but you're right that there are upsides. its the responsible thing to have a kid when you settled in life and are able to take care of them. Why would someone whos still in college or in a part-time job want to have a kid? Life is already stressful, purposefully giving yourself more stress seems pretty idiotic to me,
