It’s important to note that that Unicorn I Bend So I Don’t Break Shirt happened at the Roskilde festival during their set at one of the stages (Orange). Back in ‘04, I was impressed when Anti-Flag stopped mid-song to tell people to pick someone up who fell in the mosh pit. Once they had everyone’s attention they made a point of saying it’s important that we take care of each other. The band didn’t start playing until they knew that kid was ok. Admirable. Just a normal stadium outflow is ridiculous, let alone a stampede. GF and I were biking around the football stadium, and the game let out just as we were going through the temporarily fenced corridor to shortcut to the other side. The trickle of people became a flood within seconds, and we were pinned to the fence, and couldn't even turn the bikes around by the time we realized how thick it got. People were pissed, but it was impossible for anyone to stop to let us flip the bikes and flow back out with them. We were stuck to the fence for at least 30min if not longer. I fell in the middle of the largest mosh pit I had encountered at an Offspring show. Laid there for probably a minute getting trampled but it felt like ten years. Every time I would try to move pretty much at all it was like whoops, stomp to the head. Whoops, my arm is pinned under another shoe. Fortunately, a bouncer must have spotted me as I felt him pull me up. This could be the only time some of the kids get to go there in their lives. It's been planned and hyped up for months. The kids are extremely excited and surrounded by others who are excited. The energy in crowds like that is uncontainable! I've lived near Universal for my whole life and went there a bunch growing up, so I definitely wouldn't be that hyped about it. But for a kid who might live 3 states over and sold 9000 candy bars to get there, it will be a once in a lifetime experience they'll likely never forget.
