The scarier version is that Good Morgue Stars Shirt they really think this is some sort of hoax. I don't think they understand that we will have enough data by late October to know what the actual death toll will be. I literally think that the Trump admin just can't conceptualize that the death rate data will be public by then. At this point, I think it would be so painful to accept that one was, basically, an accessory to mass murder, that the anti-mask crowd will never accept the truth even as it tears through their own family and community. I think a lot of people prefer to believe a comforting lie - media hoax, it's just the flu, the numbers are exaggerated than to believe the harsh truth- we're on track to have 200k deaths in the new few months. I tried to explain this to a family member recently. Their actions, their sharing of disinformation in their friend group, will lead to harm and possibly death. This isn't bullshitting about JFK conspiracies. I fear that my nieces and nephews will be harmed because of this. It's so irresponsible. Read Vanity Fair’s piece that dropped Friday (I think) about how, basically, Kushner decided to not roll out a national strategy but to pawn it off on the states because it was (then) primarily people in blue states that were croaking, and then blame blue governors for the deaths and spreading numbers. They absolutely have the human toll in mind, just not in the way a decent person would.  If you keep getting sick and not mask up as a nation then many more hundreds of thousands will die. Is it worth it? To not wear a mask ? I also can’t believe Trump hasn’t been escorted off the white house grounds and in jail or house arrest. He’s not fit. I'm lucky to have two, amazing, employed parents who care about me and my siblings no matter what. I don't have to worry about if I'll have enough food for dinner tomorrow, if my parent will be out of a job tomorrow, or if I might become a victim of a racially motivated hate crime. If all I have to do is wear a mask to school, I'll take it.
